Kirill Serebrennikov testified against his accountants
Figures of the case of public funds embezzlement in the Seventh studio began to surrender each other.
Director Kirill Serebrennikov, being in the status of a witness in the case of a major fraud, gave testimony to his colleagues from the Seventh studio, after which they began to cooperate with the investigation. This was reported by
Interfax with reference to a source familiar with the course of the investigation. The testimony of former chief accountant of the Seventh Studio Nina Maslyaeva "was not key" for the detention of the Gogol Center director - in the case there are testimonies of the accountant Tatyana Zhirikova and "other persons". Earlier Maslyaeva stated that it was Kirill Serebrennikov who developed a plan for the theft of funds allocated for the Platforma project. According to the testimony of the accused, Serebrennikov and Malobrodsky (producer of the Seventh Studio) cashed it in.
As the CrimeRussia has already reported, director Kirill Serebrennikov was detained in the case of fraud in St. Petersburg and taken to Moscow. According to the Investigative Committee, the artistic director of Gogol Center should be charged. According to investigators, the director organized the theft of "not less than 68 million rubles ($1.1m)" allocated for his theatrical project Platforma in 2011-2014.
Serebrennikov's lawyer Dmitry Kharitonov said that earlier his client had been summoned twice for questioning in the ICR.
Meanwhile, the Department of Culture of Moscow said that the temporary artistic director of Gogol Center would be deputy art director for the finance of the theater Yulia Kalinina. Serebrennikov himself chose Kalinina, "leaving for an art business trip."
Now Serebrennikov is on the Investigative Committee. According to lawyer Dmitry Kharitonov, he refused to give testimony before the arrival of a lawyer from a business trip in Vladimir.
Recall, in addition to Nina Maslyaeva, Alexey Malobrodsky and ex-director of the Seventh Studio Yuri Itin were charged with embezzlement. Malobrodsky and Maslyaeva are kept in pre-trial detention center; Itin was placed under house arrest. Kirill Serebrennikov remained in the status of a witness all this time. Figures of the case are accused of embezzling 1.286 million rubles ($21.800), allocated by the Ministry of Culture for the creative project of Serebrennikov Platforma, for the implementation of which the Seventh Studio was created.
The court believes that Anzhela Maria Tsapok could have made the money to buy the house and the expensive car by legal means, since she owned a firm. The court still refused to lift the attachment from her 6 million dollars.
