Investigative Committee detains Avangard plant director within case of explosion in Gatchina
The head of the company is suspected of inadequate control over the organization of the workflow.
Investigators detained and interrogated the director of the Gatchina Avangard Plant CJSC in the case of an explosion at the enterprise. The issue of arrest and accusation over inadequate control over the work process organization is at stake, the ICR in the Leningrad region reports. The name of the second suspect is not revealed; Georgy Mikhno is listed as the owner on the Unified State Register and the plant’s website.
Earlier, the investigation detained an engineer of the plant, whom the court placed under house arrest on charges of violating safety measures. The suspect pleaded guilty and signed a plea deal with the investigation.
The explosion on the territory of the Avangard pyrotechnic plant occurred on October 19; four people were killed: a citizen of the Republic of Belarus and three citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan. Also, ten adults and a 13-year-old girl were injured.
The consulates of the countries of the victims were notified of the incident; the investigation is ongoing.
