Investigation asks court to prolong arrest to Serebrennikov and other defendants
Consideration of the petition will take place next week.
The Investigative Committee appealed to Basmanny Court of Moscow with the petition for extension of arrest to defendants in the case on embezzlement in Sedmaya Studiya (Seventh Studio). In particular, the Investigative Committee asks to leave artistic director of Gogol center Kirill Serebrennikov under house arrest and to prolong measures of restraint to director of Sedmaya Studiya Yury Itin, former chief accountant of this organization Nina Maslyaeva and ex-director of Gogol center Aleksey Malobrodsky, city news agency Moskva with reference to press secretary of court Yunona Tsareva.
She specified that consideration of the petition concerning Maslyaeva is appointed at 11:00 on January 15, hearing on extension of a measure of restraint for other defendants will take place on January 16.
To recall, Kirill Sereberennikov, according to the previous judgment, is under house arrest till January 19, 2018, as well as Maslyaeva, and Itin. Malobrodsky is held in custody.
According to the investigators, all defendants, after entering into collusion, stole the funds allocated by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation to the Platforma project for development and promoting of the modern art. Total amount of damage is estimated at more than 214 million rubles ($3,7 million). Among all defendants of the case only Nina Maslyaeva admitted her guilt.

Oleg Deripaska withdrew from the board of directors of UC Rusal over US sanctions. A day earlier, the management of the company resigned. Changes in the company's management became a part of the plan to evade the sanctions.
