The trial was held behind closed doors; the accused faces 12 years in prison.
The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg arrested Alexey Mironov, the head of the Sverdlovsk Railway, which is the branch of the Russian Railways, for two months on charges of corruption. The defendant pleads innocent and told reporters that the accusation was based on the testimony of a representative of a subcontractor company who had been sentenced for murder, Ura.ru reports.
“A statement against me was written by Savranin, who previously did time inside for murder,” said Mironov, according to the publication. According to him, the applicant manages the company Stroy Tiks, which was a subcontractor of the SR in 2015. Personally, Mironov and Savranin supposedly do not know each other.
As the accused explained, he is charged with embezzling 650,000 ($ 10,000). Mironov claims that he paid this money to Stroy Tiks for the works performed.
According to the investigators, Mironov became a defendant in the criminal case of a bribe in the form of illegal provision of property services for patronage in service on a large scale. On December 13, the security forces searched his apartment and office. He faces 12 years in prison.
