Ministry of Culture department Head became witness in Hermitage case
Artem Novikov was called on questioning in the FSB after which he was given the status of the witness.
Head of the Ministry of Culture department Artem Novikov became the witness in the case over embezzlement in the Hermitage within which his father, deputy director of the museum Mikhail Novikov, is placed under house arrest. Such status was given to the employee of Ministry of Culture after interrogation in the FSB, TASS with reference to a source reports.
To recall, earlier mass media with reference to sources reported on detention of Mikhail Novikov’s son, however, the Ministry of Culture denied this information.
As for the deputy director of the Hermitage, Mikhail Novikov was arrested by Lefortovo regional court of Moscow according to the petition of FSB. He is suspected of especially large scale Swindling (part 4 Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to some information, his criminal prosecution is connected with the financial violations revealed during check of construction of the second turn of the repository of the Hermitage.
First, 19-year-old Artur Gadzhiev tried to set fire to the Severny shopping center, then he began to attack the visitors with an ax and a knife, and later, after running outside, he stabbed random people in the street. Four out of the seven wounded are severely injured.
The woman said she has remained silent because she was afraid she and her daughter might have been killed. However, she decided to give the information away after the investigator who investigated the murder mysteriously died.
The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office, which had previously approved an indictment in a high-profile bootlegging case against billionaire and Forum St Petersburg Group of Companies CEO Dmitry Mikhalchenko, is now demanding the Russian Supreme Court to change the initial jurisdiction.
