Former space corporation head embezzles $390k allocated by Ministry of Defense
Ex-Head of Strategicheskie Punkty Upravleniya (‘Strategic Management Points’) Corporation Anatoly Lazarev is being investigated.
Former Director of Strategicheskie Punkty Upravleniya Corporation JSC and Head of Spetspribor Design Bureau Anatoly Lazarev is suspected of embezzling 22 million rubles ($390,060) from the budget allocated for the purchase of equipment from the Russian Ministry of Defense. This is reported by Moskva news agency citing a source in law enforcement bodies.
According to the agency’s interviewee, after colluding with unknown persons in June 2012, Lazarev ordered not to provide equipment worth about 22 million rubles under the state contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. He appropriated the money. A criminal case of Swindling on an Especially Large Scale has been initiated against the former enterprise head.
According to publicly available information, the Strategicheskie Punkty Upravleniya Corporation Joint-Stock Company is engaged in the creation of launching complexes associated with the delivery and installation of space rockets to the launch pad.
Earlier, the management of the railway and the place of residence of its high-ranking employees were searched within the bribe case. Investigative actions against head of the railway Alexey Mironov were held in Moscow, where he was on a business trip.
