Former KHL ice hockey winger Igor Musatov detained in cryptocurrency swindling case

Russian former ice hockey player Igor Musatov has been detained in Moscow. He is accused of swindling related to cryptocurrency worth of $800 thousand, reports TASS with reference to a source.
According to the agency, Musatov had been put on a wanted list. He had been charged in absentia. His measure of restraint is to be chosen on Monday.
In September, last year, Moskovsky komsomolets reported that investigators of the Department of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow’s Pechatniki district started inspection upon the application against Musatov that had been filed by a CEO of an IT-company. The applicant says the the professional athlete had deceived him when making a deal related to sell out of bitcoins.
Musatov’s lawyer told 360 TV-channel that his client pleads not guilty. “We believe that the relations that had risen as a result of the exchange of cryptocurrencies are exclusively civil. Criminal prosecution is out of question,” he said.
