Former governor of Khabarovsk Territory Ishaev sent under house arrest
The defendant pleads innocent; the case is related to the theft of Rosneft's money.
Moscow’s Basmanny District Court granted the petition of the investigation about placing the former Khabarovsk Territory governor and Rosneft vice president Viktor Ishaev under house arrest until May 27. Ishaev is accused of particularly large-scale swindling (part 4 of Article 159 CCRF) by the leasing the oil company office spaces at an inflated price. His defense team offered a bail of 1 billion rubles ($ 15 million), TASS reports.
The investigation was initiated by Rosneft’s security service. On the eve of Ishaev’s detention in the oil company’s Khabarovsk office, the security forces conducted a search there. At the end of 2018, Rosneft decided to liquidate its representative office in Khabarovsk due to revealed abusive pracitces.
Ishaev pleads innocent. According to RBC, within the framework of the given case, the siloviki detained Dmitry Ishaev’s son, as well as Gennady Kondratov, the head of Rosneft’s Khabarovsk office.
