Famous film director Sokurov clears cinema supporting fund after FSB checks
That is due to "lack of livelihoods."
Film director Alexander Sokurov announced at the discussion at the Industry film school that he would close his non-commercial cinema support fund Tone Example, Kommersant writes.
“We will close our Tone Example foundation next year due to a lack of livelihood,” he said.
The St. Petersburg police and the FSB checked the Tone Example fund in December 2018. It related to the actions of the fund director Nikolay Yankin, in particular - the expenditure of budgetary funds. Sokurov then stated that the check was the result of a “denunciation by a former employee of the foundation.” He also added that the FSB is showing "special attention" to the fund after he asked Putin about the fate of the Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov in 2016.
