Ex-mayoral candidate and 2 City Duma members detained in swindling case in Voronezh
Head of a municipal unitary enterprise Voronezhskaya gorelektroset Ruslan Kochetov is being suspected of more than 500 million rubles ($7.5 million).
Head of a municipal unitary enterprise Voronezhskaya gorelektroset Ruslan Kochetov and 2 City Duma members have been detained in a case related to swindling on an especially large scale (item 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) in Voronezh, reports Vesti Voronezh. According to the outlet’s sources, the suspects were going to escape abroad, however failed to do so.
Ruslan Kochetov was detained on the night of February 6. Searches were carried out in the building of the enterprise. Sources report Kochetov is being suspected of crimes of prevarication when he was holding Director position at Voronezhskaya gorelektroset. The damage from his actions is estimated at 500 million rubles ($7.5 million).
On February 6, the City Duma members were detained in the same case in Voronezh.
In March, 2018, Ruslan Kochetov was running for mayor in Voronezh, however failed to then-current head of the city Vadim Kstenin. After that, he became the head of Voronezhskaya gorelektroset.
