Ex-contractor of Vostochny cosmodrome accused of embezzlement
The cosmodrome contractor Head is suspected of premeditated bankruptcy of the company.
Viktor Grebnev, the ex-Head of the Pacific bridge-building Company (abbreviated as TMK in Russian) that acted as a contractor in the construction of Vostochny cosmodrome, has been accused of large-scale embezzlement of company funds and deliberate bankruptcy of the enterprise.
According to investigators, Grebnev used the company’s funds amounting to 407 million rubles at his discretion. In the period from January 2012 to December 2014 the businessman on behalf of the company had consistently entered into a few contracts of guarantee. In April 2014, the company paid to the bank 288 million rubles of another company’s debts. In addition, seeing signs of bankruptcy, the head of the company did not apply to the arbitration court with a petition. The actions by the enterprise leadership led to a mass non-payment of salaries to workers.
The court sentenced the accused to a house arrest. His property in the amount of 300 million rubles has also been arrested.
Earlier, Sergey Yudin, the former Chairman of the TMK Board of Directors, had been sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in prison for swindling in a large scale.
