Dagestan State University rector released after interrogation
The former acting Mayor of Makhachkala signed a recognizance not to leave.
The detained rector of the Dagestan State University, deputy of the Dagestani National Assembly and the former acting Mayor of Makhachkala Murtazali Rabadanov was released after questioning under the recognizance not to leave. TASS and Chernovik report with reference to sources in law enforcement.
“According to the investigation, he (Rabadanov), holding the position of City Mayor, illegally transferred land located on the outskirts of Makhachkala and in the suburban village of Shamkhal-Termen to the ownership," TASS quoted the interlocutor.
Investigators interrogated Rabadanov in the case of Embezzlement (Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The security forces conducted searches in the places of residence and work of the DSU rector.
Rabadanov was acting as Acting Mayor of Makhachkala from 2013 to the beginning of 2014. Since 2007, Rabadanov has headed the DSU, the oldest and largest university in Dagestan.
