Court sentences defendants in case of embezzlement in company controlled by Artem Chayka
According to the case materials, the former owner of the legal entity robbed himself.
Moscow’s Chertanovskiy Court sentenced three defendants in a criminal case over embezzlement in a company controlled by the Prosecutor General’s son Artyom Chayka. Dmitry Suprun and Ekaterina Krasnikhina, as well as economist Elena Dorozhevich, were defendants on the dock. They pleaded innocent, Novaya Gazeta writes.
In 2014, Artyom Chayka bought the Berdyaush company from Sergey Vilshenko and launched an audit, which revealed a theft of 146 million rubles ($ 2,3 million). According to the investigators, in 2012-2014, the defendants stole money, withdrawing it from the company's accounts under commercial contracts for the supply of goods and provision of services. Vilshenko, who left Russia, is also a person of interest.
The court sentenced Suprun to four years in prison, Krasnykhin – to six years, Dorozhevich – to 6.6 years.
