Court extended arrest of Vladivostok ex-Mayor's brother
Andrey Pushkarev passes as a defendant in the case of a commercial bribery.
The Basmanny Court of Moscow upheld the house arrest of head of the Vostokcement company Andrey Pushkarev, who is the brother of the Vladivostok Mayor Igor Pushkarev. The latter, together with the director of the state company Roads of Vladivostok Andrey Lushnikov, is placed in the pre-trial detention center.
According to investigators, in 2009-2014, the Mayor organized the acquisition of a large batch of materials from Vostokcement by Roads of Vladivostok. As a result, the budget was damaged in the amount of 160 million rubles ($9 144 112 000).
It is noted that the court found it possible to leave Andrey Pushkarev under house arrest because he had previously received a serious injury of the face in the explosion of firecrackers and needs treatment.
According to the investigation, having taken a five-billion loan ($88.7m) from Sberbank in 2008, the owner of Pavlovskgranit deliberately split up the assets of the company so that creditors could not bring a charge against him to court.
