Rusnano Head: Tender won by Melamed's company was “honest and lawful”
The head of RUSNANO (Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies) gave testimonies in court within the case against former head of nanotechnologies Rusnanotech Leonid Melamed.
Head of RUSNANO Anatoly Chubais came to Cheryomushki Court of Moscow to give testimonies within the case of former head of Rusnanotech corporation Leonid Melamed and former finance director of the organization Svyatoslav Ponurov, who is accused of misappropriation of 220 million rubles ($3,7 million).
According to Chubais, the tender which was won by the Alemar company, which vice-president at that time was Melamed was honest and lawful.
“Four-five companies, one of them Alemar, have come to the tender. This company has won the tender absolutely lawfully. Conditions of the tender were completely transparent, lawful and honest. The Alemar company won an unconditional victory in the tender, none of other participants of the tender challenged its results”, Moskva news agency quotes Chubais.
He added that the winner of the tender should have been engaged in attraction of investments and completion of motivation’s system.
It is remarkable that, according to the head of RUSNANO, he did not check the tender documentation as it “was not his duties”.
“There were doubts on affiliation, and we submitted a question for collective discussion. According to the law, the contracts which cost over 1% of authorized capital, should be submitted for such consideration. After the meeting we passed an unanimous decision on the acceptance of the consultant”, Chubais emphasised that he did not consider service price of Alemar overstated. Moreover, the head of RUSNANO noted that the corporation has not suffered any damage, and even “saved significantly”.
Chubais not only expressed confidence in Leonid Melamed's honesty, but also said that he keeps contact with him, however he refused to specify location of the former head of the corporation.
“Well, this is your job”, he told the prosecutor.
To recall, according to the investigators, Leonid Melamed, being a co-owner of Alemar and the head of Rusnanotech, has made a contract with a commercial organization on providing consulting services with more than 220 million rubles transferred into accounts of the company ($3,7 million). As the prosecution declared, Alemar has not performed any works stated in the contract. His ex-deputy Andrey Malyshev (he is abroad and arrested in absentia) and former finance director of corporation Svyatoslav Ponurov became Melamed's accomplices, according to the Investigative Committee.
According to the Russian MIA’s spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, the detention of Russian woman Maria Butina in the US was specifically timed to coincide with the summit of Putin and Trump in order to minimize the effect of the presidents’ meeting.
