Blogger Davidovich sentenced to almost 5 years in jail
The defense insisted on justification.
Moscow’s Dorogomilovsky court sentenced famous blogger and a founder of Smotra.ru community Erik Kituashvili (aka Davidovich) to 4 years and 8 months in a jail in a 1.2 million rubles ($18.3 thousand) swindling instance, RIA Novosti reports from the court.
“The court didn’t find any evidence of theft of 1.196 million rubles (roughly $18.3 thousand) from an insurance company MSK via collecting the insurance money in an insurable event caused by the carjacking of BMW.” The judge Anton Tolstykh stated.
With that, the sentence is of an accusatory nature. Readings are continuing. The verdict is to be published later. The prosecutors requested 7 years of imprisonment for the accused.
The investigation theory is that Kituashvili faked the carjacking of the insured premium class cars - Lexus LS430, Mercedes SL55 AMG, BMW М5, and BMW 745i - and then received insurance compensation for them that he subsequently laundered.
As estimated by police officers, the general damage amounts to 10 million rubles ($152.7 thousand). The blogger pled not guilty.
The General Director of Research and Production Complex (NPK) Dedal was detained when transferring the first part of the bribe in the amount of 2.5 million rubles ($37.9 thousand) in one of Simferopol restaurants.
