Austria extradites Russian man accused of ₽253-million theft
The suspect was handed over to Russian law enforcement agencies at Vienna International Airport.
Nail Malyutin, a Russian citizen accused of embezzling 253 million rubles, has been extradited from Austria, said Alexander Kurennoj, the Prosecutor General's Office spokesman.
"Malyutin is accused of embezzling the funds belonging to Financial Leasing Company (partially state-owned) in the amount of 253 million rubles by signing a fictitious contract for the sale of a civil aircraft... Today, on January 20 of 2017, Malyutin was handed over to Russian law enforcement bodies at Vienna International Airport", said Kurennoj.
The prosecutors want the former Russian Federation Council member to go to prison for 14 years instead of 9 and pay a 500-million-ruble ($8.8 million) fine instead of 70 million rubles ($1.2 million).
