The money is deposited in the accounts of a company unrelated to the accused.

The Moscow City Court upheld the defense’s complaint of the removal of the attachment from €121 million within the criminal case against former Open Government Minister Mikhail Abyzov. The court decided that the money is kept in the accounts of a company unrelated to Abyzov, TASS reports citing lawyer Sergey Drozd.

According to the lawyer, the Moscow City Court also sent two materials of the investigation on the attachment of Abyzov’s stakes “in the authorized capital of some companies for about 71 million rubles and real estate worth 420 796 076 rubles” for re-examination to the Basmanny court.

Also, the investigation refused to take up about 1.5 million rubles of Abyzov, which the ex-Minister withdrew before freezing the account. Attorney Drozd emphasized that Abyzov was charged with damages not exceeding 5 billion rubles, and property worth 20 billion rubles has been arrested. The investigation estimated the assets at 27 billion rubles.
