$7.000.000 worth of drugs comes to St. Petersburg in banana boxes from Ecuador

A ship named Maersk Niamey delivered the cargo from Ecuador to St. Petersburg through Bremerhaven on January 12. It carried about 300 containers of bananas with a batch of drugs in one of them.

Fifty kilograms of white powder were seized in the Pushkin district of St. Petersburg. The drugs came to Petrolesport from Ecuador. The retail price of the cargo is 500 million rubles ($7.000.000). Fontanka reports the details.

Fontanka reporters found out that on January 19, the Transport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the North-West Federal District opened a criminal case on part 5 of Art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code (Illegal sale of narcotic drugs on a large scale). The department for control of drug trafficking of the St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region MIA confiscated the 50-kg batch of white powder on January 16 at a warehouse of a commercial company in the village of Shushary, Pushkin District.

The end point of the retail offers a half-gram of the Ecuador powder at 5.000 rubles, which means the whole batch should have generated 500.000.000 rubles.

Fontanka promised to give a detailed account of how St. Petersburg drug dealers chose not to take the drugs from the port with the criminal investigation department watching and why they rammed a Volvo three times on their way to the place of unloading.
