The crime lord has become a defendant in a case under the 'anti-theft' article.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan has confirmed the detention of thief in law Rashid Khachatryan (Rashid Dzhambulsky) and said that a criminal case was initiated against him under the article on Occupying the Highest Position in the Criminal Hierarchy.

A video of the detention and interrogation of the crime lord has also been published on the Internet. During the conversation with the operatives, Rashid Dzhambulsky said he was convicted and had recently been freed. When asked if he was a “thief in law,” Khachatryan replied: “What law? I have been living in lawlessness all my life.”

“It has been established that one of the leaders of the criminal environment created an organized group to establish criminal influence in the territory of one of the regions of the Republic of Tatarstan,” the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.

The criminal group was extorting money from local entrepreneurs, a part of which was sent directly to the thief in law. According to law enforcers' estimates, the damage from the group’s activities exceeded 5 million rubles ($76.2 thousand).

During the search, blade weapons, SIM cards, cell phones, over 1 million rubles ($15.2 thousand) and $6 thousand were seized from the crime boss.
