So far, there is no information as to why the mafia bosses were detained.

Two thieves in law were nabbed at once in the village of Povadniki, Mytishchi district of the Moscow region: Vakhtang Pshenitsky (Vakho Zugdidsky), an ex-vor, and Valiko Dzhedzhei (Valter), an effective one.

When responding to detectives’ questions, Vakho Zugdidsky, 68, said that although he was born in Zugdidi, he is a citizen of Russia, now a senior and officially gets government retirement bonuses. He said he had no convictions, was not a thief in law and had never been one.

Valter’s story, on the other hand, was way more interesting. He said he had always been a Russian citizen, had several convictions that, if added up, would make a term of “up to 20 years”. When asked whether he was a thief in law, he threw his hands up and smiled - they keep asking the same thing again and again. He did not say no, however.

The thief stumbled when the law enforcement officers inquired where his permanent registration is. “Mariyel region, or whatever,” the Mafioso said after a pause. "The Republic of Mari El", the officers helped him.

- Where do you live then?

- Same place.

- What are you doing here, visiting someone?

- Staying at my place, yes, - Dzhedzhei answered.
