The lawyer of the crime lord arrested last night revealed the details of the operation.

The lawyer of thief in law Oleg Shishkanov (Shishkan / Oleg Ramensky), 54, unveiled his real name and denied ICR’s allegations that he was involved in the abduction and murder of Deputy Tatiana Sidorova and her family.

In an interview with Business FM, Alexander Vershinin said that his client’s name was Oleg Nikolayevich Medvedev and he did not know who “Shishkanov” was. He is now a suspect under the new law, Art. 210.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Being a high-ranking crime lord). The lawyer noted that Shishkanov-Medvedev served a sentence a while back, then was given the highest mafia status, on the basis of which the criminal case was started.

As for the charges of killing the deputy and her family, Vershinin says it is all but nonsense. He also said the same about the charges of occupying a higher position in the criminal hierarchy. When asked whether Shishkan was a “thief in law,” Vershinin replied, “No, those are all evil tongues, the Internet, and cops who are working towards a promotion.”

According to the man, the crime leader was interrogated in his presence, and they both gave detailed testimony, as well as presented objections, and “all kinds of procedural things”.

Vershinin said the case transfer to the Investigative Committee was illegal and compared the case with that against ex-Minister for Open Government Affairs Mikhail Abyzov. “That’s a vicious practice when they are free to pick where to file it,” the lawyer said.

In addition, Vershinin described the arrest. According to him, the siloviki arrived on July 14 at 11:30 pm in a multi-apartment building in the city of Ramenskoye, smashed the doors very hard, crippling a man on the street. Nothing illegal was seized from Shishkan, and he was not on the run, i.e. saw no reason to hide. When he arrived there, he saw a bunch of people with machine guns, a battered man in handcuffs lying on the ground and an ambulance. He did not know who the man was since by that moment Shishkan was already on his way to the Investigation Committee.

Vershinin went after him, and then it turned out that the case was opened the day before, i.e. July 13. At six in the morning, the lawyer was able to talk with his client. The Basmanny Court is considering the petition of the investigators to remand the thief in law in custody.

Shishkan is one of the most notorious and authoritative crime lords of the Slavic wing. Last August, he was elected the No. 1 thief in law, thus replacing Zakhary Kalashov (Shakro Molodoy), who had been jailed for more than 10 years. Shishkanov served his only prison time so far, 10 years for premeditated murder, back in the 80s and was vetted in 1992.

Earlier it was reported that his detention could be related to the investigation of the criminal case of the abduction and murder of Tatyana Sidorova, a deputy of the Ramenskoye District Legislature, and three members of her family, which occurred on the night of February 20-21, 2012. The woman had a conflict with the mafia boss after long years of a joint business and now he is believed to be the paymaster of her murder.
