The crime boss is on the international wanted list.
Georgian security officials were able to wiretap a mobile phone of one of the participants in a criminal gathering, as a result of which five people, who are accused of belonging to criminal underworld, participation in the criminal gathering and supporting the relevant activities, were detained. The Georgian MIA deputy head Kakha Sabanadze announced the results of the detention.
Investigators found that on January 27 of this year, a meeting of a local businessman and three members of the criminal underworld took place in one of the apartments in Tbilisi. Georgian crime lord Sulkhan Tvalchrelidze, also known as Sukho, 56, who is wanted by Interpol, joined the conversation. Georgian Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kakha Sabanadze said that the kingpin “resolved disagreement between the parties using his criminal influence through thieves’ code of law.” The security forces, having received the court permission, were able to record the gathering.
As sanctioned by the court, five participants of the conversation were later detained. Thief within the law Sukho will be charged in absentia.
During searches in the detainees’ apartments and cars, the police discovered and seized firearms and ammunition. They face from 6 to 10 years in prison.
