His further route is unknown, since, according to Shevchik, the arrest of Oniani is due to the fact that Spanish law enforcement bodies have put him on the international wanted list. In Spain, he is charged with Money-Laundering and Organization of a Criminal Community.
The 60-year-old head of the Kutaisi thieves’ clan, Oniani was serving his time in the special-security colony Cherny Delfin in Sol-Iletsk. In July 2010, the Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow sentenced him to 10 years' imprisonment for Kidnapping and Extortion. He was to be released on June 11, 2019, but he managed to achieve a reduction of the sentence to 9 years and 10 months. In 2018, MIA Head Vladimir Kolokoltsev signed an order on the expulsion of the crime lord from Russia.
The cadets have been found guilty of an Attempt at Murder by a Group of Persons by Previous Concert and for Mercenary Reasons (part 3 of Art. 30, part 2 of Art. 105 of the Russian Criminal Code). They do not plead guilty.
