Dzhemal Mikeladze

The well-known thief in law Dzhemal Mikeladze, whom many suspect of involvement in the murder of the patriarch of the thieves' world of Ded Hasan, died on the night of March 1 in the Italian city of Bari.

The 43-year-old thief in law Dzhemal Mikeladze (Dzhemo), who died on the night of March 1 in Italy, recently went away from the thieves' life and practically did not communicate with “colleagues in the shop,” Kommersant reports.

Former Russian lawyers of Dzhemal Mikeladze explained to the newspaper that in recent years they did not keep in touch with their ward, noting that they were "shocked" by the information about his death. According to them, while under investigation, the thief in law made quite a decent impression. At the same time, lawyers noted that they had no data on drug addiction of Dzhemo. They also deny his involvement in the death of Ded Hasan.

With the death of Dzhemo, Mikeladze's thieves' dynasty ended its existence. Together with his elder brother, who died two months ago, the crime boss Mamuk, Dzhemo was a hereditary thief. Their father is the famous Tbilisi thief in law Dzhemal Mikeladze Sr. (Arsen). Thanks to his authority, throughout his entire thief’s career, the Mikeladze brothers lived without any problems, communicating with the Moscow thieves' elite and having support from people who knew their father.

Dzhemo was "crowned" as early as turning 16 years old. And the most active for him was the period from 2011 to 2012, when he joined such “thieves” as Gela Kardava, Badri Koguashvili, Rovshan Dzhaniev, Merab Dzhangveladze, Tariel Oniani and got involved in the conflict with the clan of Ded Hasan (Aslan Usoyan). Dislike of the latter, Dzhemo inherited from his father, who was once deprived of the "title" by Usoyan’s comrades.

However, in the end, Arsen Mikeladze regained the “title”, but he was forever holding a grudge and in 1993, as one of the most “authoritative” representatives of the “Tbilisians”, at a gathering in the CDT inspired a fight between Makho and Hasan to drop the authority of the latter.

After the murder of Arsen in the same year his sons continued the business. And in all the conflicts of Ded Hasan with the thieves in law he automatically took the side of his opponents. And Dzhemo, if he did not personally develop plans for the murder of Usoyan, probably knew about them.

At the end of 2016, when Dzhemo spent term in Russia for possession of drugs and weapons found in him, at the end of his sentence, he was extradited to Italy at the request of local authorities.

In Italy, where Dzhemo had real estate and a residence permit, he in absentia received 15 years in prison for creating a criminal community, extortion, bribery, money laundering and falsification of documents. However, later his lawyers, through appeals, were able to reduce the previous sentence of Dzhemo from 15 to almost 2 years in prison.
