Lawyers of thief in law Shishkan strip-searched
Lawyers of Oleg Shishkanov complained about actions of employees of the remand prison where the ‘thief’ had been placed.
Lawyers of a ‘thief in law’ Oleg Shishkanov (aka Shishkan) complained about actions of employees of the federal remand prison #1 where the ‘thief’ had been placed, reports Moskovsky komsomolets. The lawyers of Shishkan who had been accused under an anti-thief article (Leadership in a criminal hierarchy) were strip-searched at the remand prison’s checkpoint.
Lawyer Aleksander Vershinin says initially, he was made turn the pockets of his jacket and pants out. And then he was strip-searched - in the presence of witnesses to the search, and it all was recorded. The search, according to their words, was connected with the fact that there had allegedly been operative information that someone was going to bring dangerous items to the remand prison.
With that, Vershinin noted that it is against the law to strip-search lawyers when they visit a remand prison.
“This is the first time I’m strip-searched during my lawyer’s career. I was in my underwear and boots in front of the employees of the remand prison. I offered to take off the underwear, but they said it was not necessary. When you were taking your clothes off, there was nothing to do except pulling jokes. I told them next time, I would buy myself trunks with a logo of the Federal Service for Execution of Punishment in order for them to be glad with that. I asked them to turn music on during this kind of striptease,” the lawyer said.
Vershinin says there was nothing found except a motorbike key. The other lawyers did not have anything dangerous, as well. Vershinin noted that this lawlessness of employees of law enforcement should be considered by the relevant agencies.
