Kyrgyzstan ex-official detained in case of thief in law Aziz's release
An ex-official is suspected of abetting the discharge of the crime lord from prison.
Kyrgyzstan continues the investigation of the case of thief in law Aziz Batukaev’s unlawful release from the colony. The new defendant is the former Head of the Security, Law and Order and Defense Department of the government office, Marat Bekenov, reports the local portal Azattyku, citing sources.
The interlocutors of the publication do not give details, but it is known that the investigation considers the ex-official to be involved in the Batukaev escape to Chechnya.
Earlier, The CrimeRussia wrote about the detention of other defendants in the case. In particular, the ex-Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan, Aida Salyanova, Special Prosecutor Mayrambek Akmataliev, as well as oncologists, laboratory technician and judge, who made the decision on release. In addition, the former Adviser to the Chairperson of the State Service for the Execution of Sentences, Kalybek Kachkynaliev, and the former Deputy Prime Minister, Shamil Atakhanov, were arrested. The ex-Health Minister, Dinara Saginbaeva, is also named in the case. She has recently been placed under house arrest.
The investigation into the case of Aziz's escape was unexpectedly resumed in April 2019. Medical experts have established that Batukaev's cancer diagnosis was fake.
Batukaev was released after serving less than half the term. In 2006, he was sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in prison for illegal possession of weapons and drugs, organizing a riot in the colony, and complicity in the murder of a parliament deputy. On April 9, 2013, the court decided to discharge him in connection with the fatal disease. Batukaev wasted no time and flew to Chechnya on the same day, he has stayed there to this day.
Presumably, it concerns the US response to Ukraine’s help in the investigation against Joseph Biden, Trump’s main rival in the 2020 presidential election, who allegedly was in collusion with Kiev during the previous campaign.
