“Has something to hide.” Investigative Committee classifies case into death of ‘thief in law’ Vagon in colony as secret investigation
The victim’s lawyer Andrey Guzev says the cause of death has not been reported for 6 months now.
‘Thief in law’ Vagon’s lawyer Andrey Guzev stated the Investigative Committee is classifying as secret investigation into death of his client who passed away in the colony 6 months ago, reports Mestnoye vremya agency.
The victim’s lawyer Andrey Guzev says the cause of death has not been reported for 6 months now. The lawyer believes the investigation has something to hide.
“It was reported officially that Vladimir Vagin committed suicide. All relatives did not and do not believe that. The investigator was supposed to come to Nizhny Novgorod in late 2018 to get acquainted with the case file and question the victim’s relatives, and then launch expertise into suicidal tendencies. This has not been done yet,” the lawyer says. In his words, the colony’s representatives only told about what had been caught on the CCTV: how Vagin entered the room, took of his sweater and escaped from sight - and hung himself. With that, there was an electrical failure in the colony in this very moment. Guzev noted that expertise to determine the video’s continuity has not been carried out yet.
In the nearest future, Guzev and another lawyer are going to visit Perm. The lawyer noted the fact that the case in being classified as secret is odd, because there are no official secrets or data discrediting someone’s dignity.
“There’s something they don’t want to make public. I believe these are the real causes and motives of Volodya’s death. We’re going to control the investigation,” Guzev said. He noted that there might have been oral instructions towards Vagin, taking into consideration his status.
The media office of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Perm region denied to comment upon this investigation.
Vladimir Vagins was a member of a ‘Slavic core’ of Aslan Usoyan’s (aka Ded Khasan) gang. Usoyan was shot in 2013. The 54-year-old ‘thief’ was found dead in the colony in Prikamye. This happened soon after he was convoyed to the 11th correctional facility in a settlement of Nyrob. Vagin was serving his term for assassination attempt of a MIA’s officer.
Signs of violence were not found when the body was examined. Vagin’s relatives and friends believe he could not commit suicide. Criminal case was initiated under article Incitement to suicide.
