Novruzov and Bayramov were detained on May 21. Traffic police stopped a Mercedes-Benz S600 in which the men were.

The alleged emissaries of thief in law Lotu Guli (Nadir Salifov), Zaur Novruzov and Rizvan Bayramov, who were detained earlier in Samara, were accused of drug and arms trafficking, Komsomolskaya Pravda reports. The defense of the detainees claims that a gun and cocaine packages were planted on them.

Novruzov and Bayramov were detained on May 21. Traffic police stopped the Mercedes-Benz S600, in which the men were. An inspection turned up about 20 grams of cocaine in packages, and a signal pistol, converted into a military one and loaded with 9 mm ammunition.

Lawyer Dmitry Golenkov, who represents the interests of the detainees, argues that during the detention the men were put on the ground and bags were put on their heads. Weapons and drugs were found after that. According to the defense of Novruzov and Bayramov, the prohibited items were planted on them before the arrival of witnesses to the search.

The police deny that a gun and drugs were planted on anyone. Kirov District Court arrested Bayramov, from whom the gun was seized, for two months. Novruzov, on whom the drugs were found, was allowed to go home, because the investigators did not indicate the grounds for choosing a preventive measure and did not furnish information confirming these grounds. The prosecutor's office of Kirovsky district insists on arresting the man. June 11, Samara Regional Court overturned the decision of the court on his release. Now there will be another trial at which the prosecution will ask for Novruzov's arrest.

Golenkov notes that 4.77 grams of cocaine was found on his client. This amount of substance is considered a significant size, and the case must be initiated under part 1 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code, which does not provide for arrest, but the maximum penalty under which is up to 3 years in prison. When it comes to Novruzov, a criminal case under part 2 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - Illegal Drugs Trafficking on a large scale, was opened against him. The lawyer demands the decision on initiating a case under this article declared illegal.

It is noted that such an interest in Novruzov by the police may be related to the fact that he allegedly represents the interests of thief in law Nadir Salifov (Guli) in the Samara region. The latter is ostensibly involved in organizing abductions of people, and Tolyatti businessman Kamal Guluev became one of his victims. In 2015, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 10 million euros.

Zaur Novruzov is registered in the village of Yagodnoye near Tolyatti. He is currently hospitalized due to health problems. Officially, he does not work, but it is known that for some time he was engaged in business.
