Dead ducks to get Miku?
In Moldova, the criminal investigation reinstituted against the gang responsible for grave crimes.
In connection with the reinstitution of the criminal case, in Moldova, active members of the criminal group under the leadership of Sergey Stich were detained. Stich is a right hand of the kingpin Petru Galca nicknamed Miku. According to the newspaper Publika.md, a few days ago, six gang members were detained by the Moldovan police. They are suspected of involvement in the organized crime group accountable for murder, beating, robbery and kidnapping, committed 10 years ago in Orhei district.
These crimes would have remained in status of cold cases and continued to gather dust in the archives. But recently, the investigation in their regard was reinstituted. All six defendants were arrested for 30 days.
As for kingpin Miku, who is considered to be involved in the activities of the criminal gang, he currently remains inaccessible to Moldovan justice. In January 2015, the CrimeRussia reported that the 52-year-old former thief in law, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for organizing an OCG, was released under house arrest. He was arrested in this case back in 2001; heard the sentence on March 1, 2004. In 2007, by the decision of the European Court of Human Rights, Miku’s life imprisonment has been replaced by a prison term, which expired on February 9, 2015. In addition, the amount of 15 thousand Euros in compensation from the state figured in the case.
In April 2016, it was reported that Galca did not appear at the trial, as he was supposed to. At the same time, the lawyer Gheorghe Kobzak presented a statement on behalf of the convicted person to consider the case in his absence. The defender explained the client's absence by his poor health, but did not say where he is.
"The details are unknown to me; I also do not want to talk about where he is. I know one thing: he is sick and must be treated. I cannot tell you if I spoke to him, whether he is in the country, but, according to prosecutors, he left the country. I am aware of the fact that in Moldova doctors operated him badly. He wanted to correct their medical mistake overseas. I would like to inform you that Galca was not under any restrictive measures, imposed bans to leave or to enter the country. It is an absolutely legal process in which the application was submitted on the proceedings in his absence" – said the lawyer Gheorghe Kobzak to the media.
According to the information of the CrimeRussia, Petru Galca was crowned in 1993 with the consent and in the presence of Dato Tashkentsky. Currently, his powers have been suspended.
