Crime lord Gela Kardava sentenced to three years in Belarus
The kingpin was removed from the flight to Istanbul by Belarusian law enforcers.
In Minsk, the court delivered a verdict against Georgian citizen Gela Kardava, known in criminal circles as a thief in law. Kardava was detained in January 2018 when he tried to leave the country – he was removed from the flight to Istanbul at the airport of Minsk by MIA’s Organized Crime Unit officers.
The crime lord was found guilty under part 2 of Art. 380 “Forgery, manufacture, use or sale of forged documents.” Kardava had a fake passport and other forged documents on him.
He was sentenced to three years in a general regime colony. Passing the verdict, the judge agreed with the prosecutor's position on the term of punishment.
It is known that Kardava was “crowned” 22 years ago and this is his first conviction.
Major general Igor Vasiliev, Head of the Engineering Support Service of the Federal Protection Service (FPS), and lieutenant general Ulitin subordinate to him are currently in the middle of a scandal. However, it is unlikely that they lose their posts. Reportedly, the two generals are just the tip of the huge corruption iceberg in the law enforcement structures. This is not the first embezzlement episode in their careers.
