Crime lord Don Pipo and four of his accomplices detained in Armenia
The crime lord and the four Russians detained along with him are suspected of kidnapping three people and illegal possession of weapons. They face an aggregate penalty of up to 8 years’ imprisonment.
On Saturday, the National Security Service of Armenia detained crime lord Artur Asatryan aka Don Pipo and four Russian citizens in the city of Echmiadzin. Allegedly, they are Asatryan’s accomplices.
According to the press service of the National Security Service of Armenia, all of them are charged with the kidnapping of three people committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, as well as possession of weapons. Weapons and ammunition were found during searches in the crime lord’s mansion and several other places.
The National Security Service explained that the criminal case against Don Pipo is connected with “possible kidnapping by Asatryan of people who were preparing his murder.”
Artur Asatryan aka Don Pipo is a crime lord living in Russia and Italy. According to Armenian media, Don Pipo has been recently buying up expensive real estate, trade and other service facilities in his hometown. Sputnik-Armenia reports that a few days ago, Don Pipo organized a rally against Acting Mayor of Echmiadzin, Karen Grigoryan – the son of deputy and former Deputy Minister of Defense of Armenia Manvel Grigoryan, who is the unofficial feudal lord of the region.
The National Security Service of Armenia detained Manvel Grigoryan a few hours before Asatryan after receiving some operational data. He is suspected under Art. 235 of the Armenian Criminal Code (illegal acquisition and possession of firearms by a group of persons on preliminary conspiracy).
