CID and Rosgvardiya dispersed gathering of criminal authorities in St. Petersburg
Employees of the Anti-Banditry Criminal Investigation Department of St. Petersburg (CID) and fighters of the Rosgvardiya Russian Rapid Deployment Police Task Force Granit dispersed gathering of criminal authorities detaining 23 of its members. All of them are residents of St. Petersburg, previously convicted.
According to Fontanka, the operation was carried out at the restaurant Corinthia in the hotel on Nevsky Avenue.
The publication notes that authorities discussed the division of spheres of influence in the city. During the search at the detainees, many knives and traumatic pistols were found.
It is reported that criminal authorities did not attempt to resist to law enforcement officials.
After the detention, they have even paid the bills in the restaurant, and then were taken to the police station for identification.
Those, who had documents on them, were released quickly. The rest waited for close relatives with authorities' documents.
Three officers of the Moscow FSB office, detained in June 2017, are defendants in the criminal case heard by the Moscow Garrison Military Court along with the retired MIA Major-General Viktor Trutnev. The official prosecution asked 7 and eight years’ imprisonment for them.
