The defendant was assisted by a 50-year-old man from Yerevan, temporarily residing in Russia.
The investigation has established the identity of the accused’s accomplice in killing thief in law Andranik Arutyunyan (Ando Khromoy / Andik Massivsky), reports Sputnik.
Earlier it became known that a 32-year-old resident of Grozny is wanted for the murder of the crime boss. The Armenian police reported that he had been assisted by a 50-year-old native of Yerevan, temporarily living in Russia.
“The suspect came to Armenia for a week in May this year. At the same time, the citizen suspected of aiding the murderer was in Armenia. They met several times,” the police said.
In May, the killer and his accomplice returned to Russia one day apart. In July, with a difference of a few days, they again arrived in Armenia. A few days later, Arutyunyan was killed. After that, both suspects left the country several hours apart.
The police found out that the suspect in complicity in the murder of Arutyunyan returned to Armenia on August 20. He was detained the next day.
Andranik Arutyunyan was shot dead on July 3 in the courtyard of a residential building in Yerevan. The killer turned out to be a resident of Grozny, who arrived in Armenia on June 25. The killer fired at the thief in law four shots and disappeared. The Armenian police Chief Valery Osipyan called the murder a contract one.
