FSB officers have detained Saad Sayidov, Yusup Rasulov, and Magomedadin Kazakbiev.

REN TV has published a video showing the detention of deputies of the Directorate of the Unified State Customer-Developer of Dagestan, Saad Sayidov, Yusup Rasulov, and Magomedadin Kazakbiev, who are suspected of embezzling 240 million rubles ($3.8mn) in the construction of schools in the Republic. The officials have been detained by FSB officers.

In the video, armed intelligence agencies officers are searching the Directorate of the Unified State Customer-Developer, as well as the house of one of the officials. After that, the detainees with sacks placed over their heads are put in a helicopter and taken away.

According to the investigation, in 2017, Sayidov, Rasulov, and Kazakbiev illegally signed investment contracts for the construction of schools in various parts of the region on behalf of the Republic of Dagestan. The investigation believes that Sayidov thus appropriated more than 183 million rubles ($2.89mn), Rasulov more than 52 million rubles ($823 thousand), and Kazakbiev 6 million rubles ($95 thousand).

The officials are charged with Exceeding Official Powers (item ‘c’ part 3 of Art. 286 of the Russian Criminal Code). The investigation into the criminal case is ongoing.
