Vice-Rector of Siberian Federal University detained
The suspect allegedly included a student in the list of grantees without a reasonable basis.
In Krasnoyarsk, the first vice-rector for economics and development of the Siberian Federal University, Pavel Vcherashny, was detained on suspicion of abuse of power (Part 1 of Art. 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), TASS and Interfax report with reference to their sources. The pro-rector allegedly gave an unreasonable order to include a student in the list of grant recipient, the press service of the Territorial Department of State Investigations Committee reports.
In April 2017, investigators opened a criminal case, according to which one of the SFU students illegally received a grant of 150 thousand rubles, which he spent on his own needs. Even then, security forces conducted searches at the university with seizure of documentation. In 2018 In 2018, the criminal case was closed.
