Trial of Sakhalin ex-Governor Khoroshavin adjourned
Hearings on the case of Khoroshavin were repeatedly postponed.
The trial in the criminal case of former Governor of the Sakhalin region Alexander Khoroshavin was postponed because of the defendant's illness. According to RIA Novosti, a certificate of ill health of the former official was provided by the medical unit of pre-trial detention center (SIZO-1) in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
"According to the information provided by the medical unit of SIZO-1 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Khoroshavin can not attend the hearing because of poor health," Judge Yelena Polikina said, Gazeta.ru reports.
The next hearing is scheduled for October 24.
Hearings on the case of Khoroshavin have been repeatedly postponed, the portal iz.ru reported. The ex-Governor of the Sakhalin Region and his subordinates are charged with nine episodes of bribery in the amount of 522 million rubles ($9m).
Saburova believes that the Russian authorities violated articles 2 and 5 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, guaranteeing the right to life, as well as the right to freedom and personal inviolability.
