Three migration officials and their accomplices detained for illegal registration of 200 migrants in Moscow

Detainees earned money on organizing illegal migration.

Staff of the Investigative Committee and the Federal Security Service of Russia have detained three employees of the Moscow Office for Migration (UVM) and their three accomplices, who illegally registered over 190 migrants, agency Moskva reports with reference to Yuliya Ivanova, senior Assistant to the Head of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee in Moscow.

According to Ivanova, the detainees made money organizing illegal migration in 2018. Having united in a criminal group and distributed roles in advance, they collected and submitted false documents for migration registration of foreigners to the migration department in Moscow.

A criminal case has been opened on Organization of Illegal Migration committed by a criminal group (part 2 of Art. 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The defendants in the case have been charged, some were taken into custody, the others were placed under house arrest. The investigation is ongoing.
