Moscow City Court cancelled arrest of businessman suspected of bribe-giving to Mari El Governor
Nikolay Krivash is accused of bribery on the especially large scale.
The Moscow City Court satisfied the complaint of defense and canceled arrest in absentia of businessman Nikolay Krivash who is earlier accused of giving a large bribe to former Head of the Republic of Mari El Leonid Markelov.
“Decision of the Basmanny Court of May 22 to cancel, the appeal complaint of lawyer Trunov to satisfy, send for new consideration the petition of the investigation to the same court in new structure,” it is said in the judgment announced on Monday, June 19.
As the CrimeRussia wrote earlier, the Basmanny Court of Moscow satisfied the petition of the investigation and decided to prolong for two months arrest term to Leonid Markelov. Besides, an alleged accomplice of ex-Governor Natalya Kozhanova will be under guards until September 12.
It is remarkable that Markelov during the court session did not admit his guilt, declaring that he did not understand the essence of charges. “During the whole time of arrest I saw the investigator several times — interest of the investigation to the case equals zero. The reason of this case - Krivash's prosecution by the large Russian holding seeking to buy below market price his poultry farm,” TASS provided his words.
To recall, businessman Nikolay Krivash, owner of Akashevskaya poultry farm who, according to the investigators, and bribed Markelov was earlier put on the international wanted list. Within the case, six real estate objects belonging to the businessman are also arrested.
