Main customs officer kept gold
Precious metals were discovered during searches at the house of the Head of Customs Service Andrey Belyaninov.
The money in shoeboxes was not the only surprising discovery in the house of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) Head. According to Life, the investigators also found a kilogram bar of gold and nuggets for a total weight of about 200 grams.
To recall, on Tuesday officers of the Administration for Personal Security and the Investigative Committee conducted searches at the building of the FCS. Later they visited Andrey Belyaninov’s house. There they found luxurious decor, antique paintings, expensive collection of pens and shoeboxes stuffed with money. In total the investigators counted about 10 millions rubles, 400 thousands dollars and 300 thousands euros.
The searches were conducted under the case on smuggling of alcohol production. Charges were brought against the Head of the Forum Holding Dmitry Mikhalchenko, his Deputy Boris Korevsky, co-owner of the company Kontreyl Logistic Severo-Zapad Valery Kindzersky and the General Director of Yugo-Vostochnnaya Torgovaya Kompaniya (Southeast Trading Company) Ilya Pichko. So far Belyaninov has been questioned as an eyewitness.
A federal judge other than retired Catherine Forrest will consider the case of Razhden Shulaya, who is charged with the creation of a criminal syndicate and other crimes, in the Federal District Court of the Southern District of New York.
Ismail Efendiev is suspected of exceeding authority in connection with the investigation of cases of detained earlier former First Deputy Prime Minister Ramazan Aliyev and nephew of the former head of Dagestan Askhabali Abdulatipov. Searches are being conducted at Efendiev's office and house.
The disappearance of an elderly Muscovite, who owns three rooms on Ostozhenka Street, and her disabled son, worried the neighbors, but the police refused to initiate criminal proceedings on their application. Housing in the elite area of the capital in the meantime was re-registered to a resident of St. Petersburg, who introduced herself as their relative.
