Ex-deputy of Ivanovo city council was sentenced to 8.5 years in prison

The Frunzensky District Court of Ivanovo determined a criminal case of Ex-deputy of the City Duma Yevgeny Lazarev. The former official was found guilty of extortion of property in the amount of 3 million rubles. According to the court, Lazarev was sentenced to 8.5 years in a penal colony with a fine of 200 thousand rubles.

The Frunzensky District Court of Ivanovo determined a criminal case of Ex-deputy of the City Duma Yevgeny Lazarev. The former official was found guilty of extortion of property in the amount of 3 million rubles. According to the court, Lazarev was sentenced to 8.5 years in a penal colony with a fine of 200 thousand rubles.

During the investigation, the court found that in August 2015, Yevgeny Lazarev acting as the member of the Ivanovo City Council, began to extort money in the amount of 3 million rubles from his businessman friend. The businessman was engaged in routing sewer and gas networks. In court, Lazarev tried to explain his claims that in 2011 the businessman scuttled his deal with repair and construction management of the MIA (details about how the businessman crumbed the transaction were not disclosed). The deputy estimated the "damage" from his friend’s actions at 3 million rubles, that is how much, according to the defendant, he would have received if it is wasn’t for the entrepreneur.

At the same time, according to the Prosecutor's Office, the Deputy of the Ivanovo City Duma exerted physical and psychological impact on the victim, intimidated him that if he did not give money, he would be taken out the city in the woods in the trunk.

The businessman was forced to write two receipts of 1.5 million rubles each, and put gave the ex-deputy 100 thousand rubles in cash. After another two weeks, as the supervisory authority says, Lazarev fraudulently took possession of the victim's phone, bag with the documents and personal belongings, and then "committed theft" of the businessman’s car. After that, the businessman turned to law enforcement agencies.

The official was arrested and placed in a detention facility in August 2015, the criminal case was initiated under the article "extortion with the threat of violence and violence, in order to obtain property on a large scale" (Art. 163 of the Russian Criminal Code, part 3, point b).

Lazarev was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months of imprisonment in a strict regime colony. The convict was taken into custody in the courtroom. It is to be recalled that Yevgeny Lazarev was a member of the Ivanovo City Council (Duma) from the party "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) of the previous convocation.

Previously, the Deputy Chairman of the Ivanovo City Council Sergei Morozov was involved in the criminal case. He was accused of receiving a bribe worth of million.
