Suspicion regarding case of riots in Moscow cleared of director Vasiliev
Earlier, the protester was transferred to a hospital; now he received witness status.
Investigation changed the status of TV-director Dmitry Vasiliev from a suspect to a witness in the July 27 riot case in Moscow, TASS reported, referring to Vasiliev’s lawyer Alexander Zinurov. On August 19, the director is supposed to be discharged from the hospital.
“Today Vasiliev appeared in the ICR HQ and took all his personal belongings. He is given a witness status – this is a fait accompli,” Zinurov said.
Earlier, the court refused to imposed a measure of restraint in respect of Vasiliev, since the director’s condition worsened after the arrest. Vasiliev has high blood sugar, but he was not given insulin in the temporary detention center. Later, the detainee was urgently taken to the City Hospital No. 20.
The director was fined 20,000 rubles ($ 300) for violation of public event conduct procedure by its participant (part 5 of Article 20.2 ACRF).
