Stavropol head of criminal investigation department and his subordinate arrested for bribery
The policemen are accused of extorting bribes for refusal to initiate criminal proceedings.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Interior Ministry in the Andropovsky district of Stavropol Sergey Patyak and his subordinate, senior security officer Nikolay Volkovsky were arrested for two months on charges of abuse of official powers and extortion of a bribe of 100 thousand rubles, Bloknot reports. According to the newspaper, the policemen did not have time to get the money: the operatives detained them when they were convinced of the intention to receive a bribe.
According to the investigation, the defendants offered a relative of one of the suspects to pay for refusal to initiate a criminal case on the illegal receipt of insurance payments. On June 14, cases were launched against criminal investigation officers.
Presumably, it concerns the US response to Ukraine’s help in the investigation against Joseph Biden, Trump’s main rival in the 2020 presidential election, who allegedly was in collusion with Kiev during the previous campaign.
