The case against one of the defendants, namely Director General of VIP-Stroyengineering LLC Vadim Mitryakov, has been separated and will be reviewed using a special procedure.
Spetsstroytekhnologii FSUE under the Federal Special Construction Agency of Russia (Spetsstroy) requests the Simonovsky Court of Moscow to jointly recover as part of the statement of claim the entire amount of damage caused to the enterprise from the defendants in the case of 22-million-dollar embezzlement (1.3 billion rubles) during the construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome. This was reported to TASS by representative of the injured party, Head of Spetsstroytekhnologii FSUE's legal department Vladimir Sychev.
"We ask the Simonovsky Court of Moscow to recognize us a civil party in the criminal proceedings and jointly recover in the company’s favor the material damage in the amount of 23 million dollars (1.35 billion rubles) for embezzlement of cash by Mitryakov, Degtyarev, Matuev, Bazankov, and Degtyareva," he said.
There are five defendants of the criminal case in the dock. The case against Director General of VIP-Stroyengineering LLC Vadim Mitryakov, accused of swindling committed by an organized group, and money laundering on an especially large scale, had been separated and reviewed using a special procedure by the Simonovsky Court of Moscow on February 17. Mitryakov fully admitted his guilt in the alleged crimes, repented, and asked to take the mitigating circumstances into consideration in sentencing.
Druing the oral argument of the parties, Prosecutor asked 6 years' imprisonment in a penal colony of general regime for Mitryakov, as well as a fine of 17 thousand dollars (1 million rubles). The court is to announce the sentence on February 20.
According to investigation, in the period from September 1, 2013 to June 29, 2015, Mitryakov provided to Spetsstroytekhnologii FSUE documents containing false information about the possibility of construction of residential buildings and transport facilities on the cosmodrome. After winning the tender and concluding a contract agreement, the partners executed part of the contractual works worth 9.6 million dollars (562 million rubles), whereas the remaining funds – more than 22 million dollars (1.3 billion rubles) – were embezzled and legalized. A preventive measure in the form of detention has been selected for the rest of the defendants. The case against them is also reviewed by the Simonovsky Court of Moscow.
The special services believe that Russian Interior Ministry officials could have cooperated with the press to sell passport applications and border-crossing data of the two men suspected of poisoning the Skripals in Salisbury.
