Solovyev on ‘real Colonel’ Cherkalin who stole $185mn

After 12 billion rubles ($185mn) were seized from Head of the Bank Department 'K’ of the FSB Economic Security Service, Kirill Cherkalin, and his colleagues from the FSB – Dmitry Frolov and Andrey Vasilyev – the well-known TV presented Vladimir Solovyev suggested the government "look at other ranks.”
On his Twitter account, he called Cherkalin “yet another real colonel.” He also suggested that if “we look at other titles,” then “the treasury will be filled at once so that the sanctions will no threat to us.” Solovyov noted that such amounts can be used to increase salaries and pensions.
According to the investigation, the detainees obtained such money by providing insider information to banks about planned checks and license revocations.
Russia’s deposit insurance agency asked the court to involve an offshore company Clement Glory in a case against a fugitive banker and an ex-owner of Vneshprombank Georgy Bedzhamov. Clement Glory turned out to hold Bedzhamov’s real estate in Great Britain in pawn, reports RBC.
