Sources tell The CrimeRussia that Sochi FSB officers detain one of the ‘Kings of State Order’, the co-owner of the 1520 group of companies involved in the design and construction of railways.
According to our data, law enforcers have issues with Valery Markelov regarding the corruption case against Deputy Head of the GUEBiPK Ministry of Internal Affairs Dmitry Zakharchenko. The businessman is suspected of giving a $30.4bn-bribe to the Billionaire-Colonel. According to the investigation, most of the funds seized at Zakharchenko’s secret apartment were given by Markelov. According to investigators, Zakharchenko served as the 'security service' head of the 1520 group of companies and was on a payroll.
Zakharchenko and banker Vladimir Antonov, who is under house arrest, testified against Markelov.
According to the source, the FSB officers detained him in Sochi, Valery Markelov has already been transferred to Moscow. At about 3:00 pm the Moscow court will choose the measure of restraint.
In February 2018, the magazine published the rating of the ‘Kings of State Orders’ in Russia. The list was headed by Alexey Krapivin, the son of the late Andrey Krapivin, who was the adviser to former head of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin, and also Valery Markelov and Boris Usherovich, who were partners of Krapivin Sr. The 1520 group of companies, which is owned by Krapivin Jr., Markelov and Usherovich, is engaged in the design and construction of railways. In 2017, the group received several state orders worth 218.2 billion rubles.
The source says that the detention of Valery Markelov is related not only to the resonant case of Colonel Zakharchenko. It offers opportunities for initiating an investigation into large-scale thefts in Russian Railways.
