Saratov region: head of district suspected of taking bribe on large scale
Searches in Oleg Mortov’s apartment were reported a month ago, however the official denied this information.
Head of Saratov region’s Kalininsky district Oleg Mortov has been suspected of taking a bribe on a large scale as part of a group of parties. Criminal investigation division of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the region initiated a criminal case against the official under items 5 a, c of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, reports Vzglyad-info news agency with reference to its sources within law enforcement.
According to the agency, the criminal case against Mortov was caused by data provided by the regional Federal Security Service Directorate.
The official’s office stated he “had gone to the district,” reports Versiya-Saratov news agency. When he gets back was not reported to the agency.
Detention of Mortov was reported in May. Then, the official told reporters “there were no searches in his apartment or office, and he was not accused of anything.”
“They wanted to accuse me of swindling. One person attempted to give me money. They tried to blacken me through one person and plant me money. But they did not manage to. I did not take and was not going to take any money,” the official stated.
Oleg Mortov was appointed a head of Saratov region’s Kalininsky district on July 24, 2018.
