Property worth $523k seized from Ufa’s ‘Zakharchenko No. 2’
The former policeman came under investigation back in 2012.
The court in Ufa has decided to seize the property of former police officer Rail Mirgaleev in the amount of 34 million rubles ($523,600). The former silovik, who used to hold the position of Senior Criminal Investigator for the Major Crimes Unit of the MIA Internal Security Field Investigation Unit in the region, is called ‘Zakharchenko No. 2.’
Thus, the investigation found Mirgaleev to have 6 luxury apartments and 4 parking lots in Ufa, a villa, a plot of land, and a SUV. In addition, more than 13 million ($200,395) will be recovered from the security official on account of the value of the property, which he had managed to sell. This is two apartments in Yevpatoria.
As previously reported by The CrimeRussia, the criminal cases against the senior criminal investigator and several other officers of the Bashkiria MIA Internal Security Department were initiated in July 2018. They are suspected of protecting the gambling business, drug trafficking, robbery, and extortion.
It was also established that in 2008-2011, Rail Mirgaleev caused more about 20 accidents on his Toyota Camry with a vanity license plate M 555 РС (the police officer’s initials). At the same time, he received compensation for the same accident in various insurance companies using CASCO and OSAGO insurance policies. Despite numerous complaints, he successfully passed the re-certification in 2011 and continued to serve in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic.
At one of the court meetings, Mirgaleev stated that his family had always been far from being poor. Moreover, all of his property is registered in the name of his relatives. At the same time, the total value of the property is estimated at 50 million rubles ($770,500).
