Primorye Gosavtodornadzor Head received bribes from businessmen for years on end
Yuri Gubarev received more than 2.5 million rubles ($43 208).
The Leninsky District Court of Vladivostok arrested Gosavtodornadzor Head in the Primorye Territory Yuri Gubarev. The official is accused of Bribe-Taking on an especially large scale (part 6, Art. 290 of the Criminal Code).
According to investigators, from April 2012 to June 2016, Yuri Gubarev received bribes from two businessmen engaged in passenger transportation. The official earned 50 thousand rubles per month this way. For a bribe the Head of Gosavtodornadzor authorized individual entrepreneurs for carriage of passengers, despite the fact they repeatedly allowed violations of the law. They transferred money to Gubarev’s account.
Meanwhile, the official’s defense intends to appeal the court's decision on the arrest of Gubarev for two months.
"We will appeal the measure of restraint. The arrest is an exceptional measure. We believe it is too strict in relation to the client. Still, he is a General, 58-year-old, 30 of which he served. The measure in the form of house arrest would be enough," lawyer Sergey Vertelov said to the regional agency of PrimaMedia.
First, 19-year-old Artur Gadzhiev tried to set fire to the Severny shopping center, then he began to attack the visitors with an ax and a knife, and later, after running outside, he stabbed random people in the street. Four out of the seven wounded are severely injured.
The woman said she has remained silent because she was afraid she and her daughter might have been killed. However, she decided to give the information away after the investigator who investigated the murder mysteriously died.
The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office, which had previously approved an indictment in a high-profile bootlegging case against billionaire and Forum St Petersburg Group of Companies CEO Dmitry Mikhalchenko, is now demanding the Russian Supreme Court to change the initial jurisdiction.
