Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Mayor's brother got hooked for $22.6 bribe
The suspect heads the city's Improvement Directorate.
The investigation opened a criminal case on the fact of giving a bribe of 1.4 million rubles ($21.1 thousand) to an official with the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Mayor's Office. The money was transferred by the Head of the сity’s Improvement Directorate, the press service of the Investigative Committee Directorate for Kamchatka Krai informs.
According to TASS sources, he is the brother of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Mayor, Vitaly Ivanenko. According to the investigation, from December 2018 to April 2019, Ivanenko's brother transferred bribes through an intermediary to an official from the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky administration. In return, the official promised to provide general patronage.
At this stage, the come-between has been detained, the issue of choosing a preventive measure against him in the form of custody is being considered. The Head of the Improvement Directorate has already been placed in detention center. He is also charged with taking a particularly large bribe from the director of a commercial organization.
